Experiencing the Pyromusical in Seafood Island Restaurant of SM by the Bay

It's that time of the year again when the night sky gets painted with illuminating colors and lights as the 6th Pyromusical Competition runs until March 14, 2015 in SM by the Bay.

The 6th Pyromusical Competition Show
After its successful first run in 2010, many families and groups of friends started to anticipate with excitement the succeeding shows. In fact, for some, watching the pyromusical competition already became a tradition. Now on its sixth year, the Pyromusical Competition show continues to light up the skies with brilliant colors as it runs from February 7 to March 14, 2015 with 10 countries participating in the said competition.

Lucky for me, I got invited to witness the opening of the competition while indulging myself with some seafood delights in no other place than Blackbeard's Seafood Island wherein I got a taste of the famous boodle meal and a few desserts. So with this, permit me to share with you my dining experience as well.


Calamares || P185

Seafood Island's fresh Calamares

For the starter, I had this calameres which I was able to note as crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside. The calamares came with a honey mustard dip, which was the primary source of the dish's flavor.

Mt. Apo Boodle Meal || P1,650

This boodle meal contains Balbakwa, Clams sa Buko, Steamed Crabs, Steamed Shrimps, Grilled Liempo, Grilled Squid, Inihaw na Manok, Fried Tilapia, Law-uy, Kinilaw sa Tanigue, Ensaladang Lato and Garlic Rice with Crispy Dilis.

Among all of these, the notable ones are the following:

• Kinilaw || extremely fresh evidenced by the tenderness and taste of the fish meat; it was also not too sour
• Grilled Liempo and Chicken || really tasty down to its meat fibers, although the chicken could have been juicier (but I guess it's the grilling process that dried it up a bit)
• Balbakwa (Delicacy from Mindanao) || a definite first for me that really hit the right spots of my taste buds

The menu says it is good for 5 to 7 people, but I wasn't able to put it much into test because there was only 3 of us eating the entire boodle meal regrettably resulting to some leftovers.

As we were digging into the boodle meal, the skies lit up followed by a familiar booming sound indicating that the show just began!

It felt really mesmerizing enjoying the evening breeze (as we were seated in the outdoor dining of Seafood Island) and the food under the spectacular lights from the fireworks.

For the desserts, we had the following:

A dessert of Bikers' Cafe - Pancake with Ripe Mangoes and Whipped Cream

Fried ice cream in bread batter of Seafood Island

Both of these desserts were considerably okay, but may not be as noteworthy as the boodle meal.

Pyromusical and Seafood Island in a Nutshell
Seafood Island is definitely a prime spot for you to catch the spectacular pyromusical competition. Hence, instead of paying up for the ticket just to watch the show, get some reservation here (or in the nearby restaurants, if it gets fully booked). Not only will you be able to sit comfortably as you watch the fireworks but also enjoy some interesting food.
